Fall is peaking in WA!

We decided to take a drive east on Saturday to see some color!
When we got to Snoqualmie Pass it was foggy/cloudy and very picturesque!
Next we hit a half hour back up due to "helicopter work". We saw the helicopter but never did figure out what he was doing.

At least we had a nice view while we sat still for 20 minutes!
This reservoir was full to over flowing last time we went by.

Once we got moving we saw lots of color. No red like the Midwest, but lots of yellow that contrasts the green pines!!

Awesome!

There were alot of Tamarack pines turning yellow.
Gorgeous!
Then we took a stroll down the streets of Leavenworth!

Next we stopped across from the Icicle Winery next to the vineyards.

We found a spot to eat our lunch while over looking the valley.
Colored apple orchards as far as the eye can see!

Next we walked through the vineyards and I had great fun taking pictures of the grapes. ( :

and more grapes................

and more grapes......................!
We had hopped to see a crush but they weren't working on Saturday! ) :

Yellow apple orchards along the river.
After some wine tasting we headed back to Snoqulamie.
It was a beautiful drive!
Now I have to can apples!!

A Crisp Fall Day in Snoqualmie - October 2008

Today we decided to take a 3 1/2 mile hike on the Whitaker Trail that starts right behind our house.
Today this trail featured ferns galore! They were beautiful! So green!!
Here we are looking down a mountain side and there are ferns all the way to the bottom.

The leaves are falling on the trail.

A touch of color shows through the dense forest.

Hundreds of small ferns are growing on a tree trunk.
(hint! enlarge this photo and you can really see the ferns!)

So picturesque!

They almost look like plastic!!

Nearing the other end of the trail the Douglas Firs tower.

Mossy trees with the Halloween look!!!

When we left the trail we headed back toward our house via the street.
We don't have color like the Midwest but an occasional oak tree helps!!

What a great hike!!
We are lucky to have this beauty in our back yard!!
