Day 6 - Hike on the Pacific Crest Trail at Snoqualmie Pass
Jim, Jason & Julie hiked 7 mi into the Alpine Lakes Region and 7 miles back out. This is one of the most spectacular parts of the Cascade section of the Pacific Crest Trail and also the most accessible and popular. This trail actually starts in Mexico and extends into Canada.
Sorry, but I got carried away with photos. The beauty is not described by words!!
(if you click on the pictues and enlarge them they are awesome.)
They started out at 3000 ft. in fog and 49 degrees!
As they got to a higher elevation the sun began to peak through the trees!
Awesome!
At 4000 ft. they were above the fog. The sun was shining and in the 70's.
Hiking above the fog and seeing the mountain peaks poking through was awesome!
Ridge Lake 6270 ft.
Jason seems to attract bees! One got into his shirt and stung his back in 5 places.
Yes, they did have the first aid kit and some anti-itch cream saved the day!
Fortunately, there were no other calls for First Aid!!

Pictures of Kendall Katwalk on the return hike.
The Katwalk was blasted across a cliff in solid granite. When snowfree the dynamited lane is wide and safe enough, although not recommended for acrophobes. When snowy, forget it!
Julie says she walked close to the right side of the path and held her hand over the left side of her face.........pretty scary to look down at a rock wall that goes hundreds of feet below.
A spectacular hike!
And to think Jason considered leaving his camera behind! Whew! We are lucky he didn't do that!
Fun with Olivia
She really puckered up and then laughed cuz she was so proud of herself. Fun!
Fun at the dinner table with Bestefar!
Pluots on her face.....yum!
(fruit that is a combination of plums & apricots)
Giving Charley a big hug!
Having fun on the porch with Besta....
Bye-bye Olivia......we miss you terribly!!!

Jason, Julie & Olivia in Leavenworth
Bestemor & Bestefar in Leavenworth
Jason & Julie in Leavenworth
After leaving Leavenworth we drove north through Entiant and on to Chelan.
There were apple orchards all along the Columbia River as you see above. They are all irrigated from the river and the rest of the land is dessert. They were busy harvesting apples and we met many trucks loaded with apples.
A lookout stop along the Columbia River.
Here are homes and apple orchards along the river. You see the railroad tracks and that run along the road the entire distance of the river. Very picturesque!

We stopped at wayside fruit stand. Besta bought apples for making applesauce. Julie bought pluots! They are a combination of plums and apricots.
Olivia like the pumpkins the best. She was in her car seat for about 10 hours today and didn't complain. Amazing!!
Tomorrow we are off to the Boeing Tour.
